about

Composed in 1974 and awarded first prize in the Dublin Symphony Orchestra's composition competition, and premiered by them in 1976.
This recording made by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in January 2006 at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, as part of the Horizons concert series, which featured Doyle's early orchestral compositions. Conducted by Gavin Maloney.
Towards the end the orchestra applauds themselves and then follows a wrong-note version of the Irish national anthem. The first radio broadcast of this work in the 1970s omitted the anthemic ending.
